Print Route Overrides (Edit an Area)
Summary
Print Route Override allows the administrator to direct where order items will be printed when ordered from this area. The administrator can select a printer or no printer.
A use case example of this is in a bar area where the items sold by bartenders are delivered directly to the customer and do not need to be printed.
Configuration
Pre-condition: Configure the print routing for individual menu items on the Menu Item > Print Routing page (See Print Routing)
On the Area > Print Routing Overrides page, a list of printers is shown on the left
Select the printer that order items will be routed to from the dropdown lists on the right

Example - Large Bar and Dining Room
An example use case for Area Print Route Overrides is with a large bar and dining room area. In this example, there is a large bar with two printers. This bar (area Bar) serves the dining area, which is split into two (or more) areas: areas Dining 1 and Dining 2. All alcoholic drinks are routed to the kitchen area Bar. In a full restaurant scenario, the following behavior is desired:
Alcoholic drinks ordered from area Dining 1 should be printed to Bar Printer 1.
Alcoholic drinks ordered from area Dining 2 should be printed to Bar Printer 2.
Alcoholic drinks ordered from area Bar should not be printed at all. (NOTE: There is a kitchen area named Bar for item routing and an ordering area named Bar).
When customer traffic is slow, all alcoholic drinks should be printed to Bar Printer 1.
Order Entry can be configured to accommodate this behavior via ECM:
Create all ordering areas, Bar, Dining 1, Dining 2, and any locations for those areas.
Create a kitchen area named Bar. This area has two kitchen locations for printing, Bar Printer 1 and Bar Printer 2.
For each printer, set up the fail-over printer to be the other printer.
For selected menu items, set the print route to the kitchen area Bar.
On ordering areasBar, Dining 1, Dining 2, set the Print Route Overrides to route to the desired locations:
Bar => Do Not Print
Dining 1 => Bar Printer 1
Dining 2 => Bar Printer 2
Deploy to a test environment.
Test area routing.
Turn off Bar Printer 2.
Test that all items routed for kitchen area Bar from Dining 1 and Dining 2 are printed to Bar Printer 1.
