Menu Item Coursing (Staff facing) with Kitchen Printing Configuration



Note: Feature to be delivered in Order Entry version 4.8

Summary

This feature allows servers to better serve guests via menu item coursing, delivering order items by course (e.g., Appetizer, Soup, Salad, Entree, Dessert). 

Configuration

Configuration requirements include prep courses, prep categories and menu item configuration. 

Prep Course

Path: Categories > Prep Courses

  • Create prep courses (Appetizer, Entree, Dessert, etc.)

Prep Category

Path: Categories > Prep Categories

  • Create prep categories. Assign a prep course to each prep category. For example:

    • An Apppetizer prep category might have the appetizer course assigned to it.

    • A Soup prep category might also have the appetizer course assigned to it. 

Menu Item

Path: Products > Menu Items

  • Select a prep category for individual menu items 

Settings

Configure the site to allow menu item coursing in staff-facing mode and to print items by course in the kitchen

Path: Sites & Groups > edit site 

  • Staff Facing - Select Allow menu item coursing 

  • Kitchen - Select Print items by course in the kitchen

Test items used (Reminder: prep courses are assigned to prep categories; prep categories are assigned to menu items)

Scenario 1

  • Allow menu item coursing and print items by course in the kitchen 

  • Settings: 

    • Kitchen: Print items by course in the kitchen - Enabled

    • Staff Facing - Allow menu item coursing - Enabled 

  • Order items

  • Items are printed by course in kitchen 



Scenario 2

  • Allow menu item coursing; do not print items by course to kitchen 

  • Settings: 

    • Kitchen: Print items by course in the kitchen - Disabled

    • Staff Facing - Allow menu item coursing - Enabled 

  • Order items

  • Items are NOT printed by course in kitchen
