Alternate Locations (Devices)
Summary
Account Feature Toggle Required
An account feature toggle is required to be set by the CBS admin for this feature to be available: 4.7 Easy Access (Alternate Locations)
When set, a tab is added to the Edit Device page: Alternate Location.
A POS device can be configured to allow access to specific locations (alternate locations) at a site. When configured to default to an alternate location, the user of the device does not have to select a location through the location map or location list
- A default location is specified for the POS device to be attached to when:
- The user logs in (if clock-in not required)
- The user clocks in
- A check is finalized
This feature is especially useful when a device is in a fixed location, such as a counter service location, and for delivery orders.
Configuration
- If alternate locations have not been configured for the POS device, the information will be blank on the Alternate Location tab
- If the device has been configured to access alternate locations, the Alternate Location page will show the locations that can be accessed
- Columns Location Name, Area Name and Display Order can be sorted in ascending or descending order
- User can add up to 11 locations per device
- A default alternate location is a location that the specified device will be automatically attached to on user login/clock-in and/or finalize

Locations not configured with a default Order Type
- If the order type for the locations is not specified (Areas > Locations), the default location will load showing the order types available and the locations available instead of defaulting to the Ordering Menu
Check Search
When alternate locations have been configured on a POS device, Check Search will allow the user to search for checks by alternate locations for easy finding.
Note: A check cannot be reopened from POS device if the check was created in an area not assigned to the POS device.
Example:
- The POS device has locations in the Counter Service and Bar service areas
- In Check Search, the device cannot reopen a check that was created in the Table Service area
