Credit Card Payment - Basic Workflow

Summary 

Credit card payments can be made using a payment device attached to the iPad or an external payment device. NorthStar Order Entry can be used to read magnetic stripe EMV cards using swipe, insert (dip) and tap for payment. 

If the chip read of an EMV card fails three consecutive times, the device fails over to require magnetic swipe in lieu of insert (dip) or tap. 

Operation 

• Order items. 

• Tap Payment.

• Payment can be initiated by tapping the NFC icon or Use External Card Reader, depending on the payment device used

  • Options: NFC, keypad entry, Bluetooth 

Open

• A prompt will instruct to insert or tap the card on the payment device.

  • Option: The user can also enter the number manually on the PAX device. 

  • Before the card has been inserted or tapped, the user can tap Cancel to cancel the payment process and return to the payment screen. 

Open

• Tap (hold) the card on the device for a couple of seconds.

• When the transaction is complete, remove the card when prompted. 

• Finalize the check to complete the transaction.
