PAX Setup (PAXSTORE)

Quick Startup Checklist

  • Verify configurations for PAX Terminals from the NorthStar Credit Card Team
  • ECM Setup
    1. Verify all Peripheral Setup for PAX Terminals
    2. Verify iPad Devices are set for PAX Terminals
  • Verify site's payment processors allow PAX transactions (Implementation Team)

Basic Info

  • PAX devices supported through PAXSTORE download a configuration with everything needed to communicate directly to the processor.
  • The payment terminals function as external credit card/gift card processing devices. PAX devices can be customer facing
  • Each PAX terminal holds encrypted credit card/gift card transaction data exclusively at the site
    • Credit card/gift card transactions run on a PAX terminal are encrypted and held in that specific PAX terminal and not stored in NorthStar Order Entry or available on other devices. NorthStar only gets limited unencrypted transaction details related to the check, like last 4 of pan, amounts, card type and status.
    • The PAX terminals batch out these stored CC/GC transactions at a specified time
      • This is usually set up in each terminal's setting options.
  • Note: These devices are not configured or process transactions like Magensa MagTek, Verifone VX805s or the DataCap PAX supported devices. Those other devices usually communicate to a portal or a host application that then communicates to the processor.
  • Processors: Currently we have five main processors that are live with PAXSTORE supported PAX terminals:
    1. FDMS/FiServ
    2. TSYS
    3. Heartland
    4. Shift4
    5. .Vantiv/Worldpay

Check ECM > Site > Payment tabs to verify processors for a specific site
