Verify Age

Summary

A guest must be of legal age in order to purchase an alcoholic beverage. NSOE can be configured to require age verification for alcohol purchases.

Purpose

Age verification requires the server to verify the guest's age before placing an order for an alcoholic beverage.

Configuration

Verify Age is configured by area and bymenu item. Both settings are required for age verification.

Area setting

Set an area to require age verification for menu items that require age verification:

  • In ECM, edit site and select Areas tab.

  • Select the desired area.

  • Select Verify Age

Menu Item setting

Set a menu item to require age verification before ordering (e.g., alcoholic beverage):

  • Create or edit a menu item

  • Select Require Age Verification

(Note: This menu item is named "Require Age Verification" for test purposes only. Actual menu item names will be used in sites.)

EXCEPTION

Age verification chit will not print if the Service Display Management Engine is set to Disabled on the Site's Service Display setting.

Application

Note: A legal age check is made just once for the length of the session. If subsequent alcoholic beverages are ordered by anyone at the table, the legal age check is not triggered again.

  • Tap the name of menu item that requires age verification to order

  • If the area setting is:

    • Enabled: The pop-up window Age Verification Required is shown

      • Note: If server taps OK to dismiss the pop-up and taps the beverage button again, the pop-up will continue to pop up until the server has verified age

    • Disable: The Age Verification prompt does not display

  • Age verification chit prints

  • Server requests and checks guest ID to verify age requirement is met

  • Server swipes screen to locate Verify Age button and taps button

  • Server can now order the alcoholic beverage

Combos

  • When an alcoholic beverage is ordered as part of a combo, the age verification requirement still applies (as of version 4.4)
