Combo Menu Item - Taxes

Summary

A menu item can be configured to allow only specific types of taxes to be applied to it. On the app, only the eligible taxes for the menu item will be available.

Taxes tab

The Taxes tab is only available when a combo menu item is priced as a single combo item (a single price is applied to the combo; child prices are set to zero). Tax rules are set for the single combo price.
If a combo menu item is configured as "A discount to each item in the combo," the tax configuration is inherited from each item (each child) in the combo, so no combo tax is needed.

Configuration

There are two sections on the Taxes page:

  • Tax Eligibility

  • Tax Exemption

Tax Eligibility

  • Select the taxes that can be applied to the specified menu item

  • If the item is to be taxed for takeout, checkmark the Taxed For Takeout? checkbox

Tax Exemptions

Tax Exemptions are site-specific. A menu item might be eligible to have Tax A and B applied to it in all restaurants except those in a certain state. In this case, those sites can be exempted and the taxes will not apply in those states.

To add a new tax exemption record:

  • Click Add new record

  • Under Site, click the drop-down menu and select a site

  • Under Tax Type, click the drop-down menu and select a tax type to be excluded from the site

  • Click Save Changes to save the tax exemption change

  • To delete a tax exemption, click Delete

  • Click Save to save all changes on the page
