Promotional Items

Summary

Promotions can be suggested to guests using guest-facing mode by configuring rules on the Promotional Items page. These rules include triggers to prompt the promo to be displayed to users. 

The Promotional Items page includes:

  • Add Promo Item - Click to launch the Add Promo Item pop-up
  • Save/Cancel Changes - Save changes or discard unsaved changes 
  • Search - Enter keywords to search for a specific promotion 
  • Edit (pencil) icon - Click to launch the edit page for the selected promotion 
  • Name - Name of promotion
  • Description - Promotion description 
  • Filters - Columns can be filters to show a subset of records

Add Promo Item 

  • Click Add Promo Item
  • On the add screen, enter the following information: 
    • Name 
    • Description 
    • Start/End Date - Defaults to current date
    • Start/End Time - Select times or remain at default
  • When should the promo be displayed? Select the triggers that prompt the promo to be shown:
    • Order Submitted - Promo is triggered when order is submitted
    • Payment Started - Promo is triggered when Pay Check is tapped
    • Payment Ended - Promo is triggered when OK is tapped on "Thanks for your payment" window
    • Idle - Promo is triggered when POS device is left idle (determined by delay setting; pop-up is immediate if delay set to 0)
      • External promotion may include 5 - 6 seconds delay to fetch data from external URL

    • Order Started - Promo is triggered when a menu is selected


    • Item Added to Order - Promo is triggered when Order is tapped for a new item added from the designated menu item category and menu item. More than one menu item can be selected.
      • Use Add to add a selected menu item; use Remove to remove a selected menu item from the list. 

  • Promo Type - The type of promo selected may require additional configuration: 
    • Upsell
    • Featured Menu Items - For menu items and/or menu item categories to be featured, the Featured setting must be selected on the menu items or menu item categories page.



    • External Promotion - Add an external URL for the promotion 


    • General Promotion - Enter promo text and select image to display for promo


    • Menu Item - Select a menu item from  a menu item category for the promo


    • Menu Item Category - Select a menu item category for the promo


Edit Promo Item

  • Click the edit (pencil) icon to edit a promo item from the list 

General

  • Edit the promo information as desired on the General page

Media

  • Images can be added or changed on the Media tab
    • Media types: Default, Splash, Thumbnail (Reference: Media (Menu Item)
    • Click Change Image to launch the media page to select and associate media with the promotion

Localization

The guest-facing user interface can be configured to display promo information in another specified language. Languages for each promo are added in the Localization tab. (Languages must be added first. See Languages and Localization (Menu Item))

Save/Cancel/Apply

  • When all changes have been completed, click Save to save changes and exit page, Cancel to discard unsaved changes or Apply to save changes and remain on the page.

Operation

When a promo is triggered per the configuration, it will pop up on the screen with options:

  • Order - Click to add the promo item to the order
  • No, thanks - Click to close the promo pop-up without ordering the item
