Menu Item Pricing - By Site
Summary
With menu item pricing by site, administrators can set a different price for one or more items for specific sites or site groups from a single view in ECM. This is a powerful function allowing admins to set pricing quickly and easily for different sites and groups. Sites can take advantage of special events in their local market areas with revised pricing, for instance, or increase prices due to a local market shortage on items.
Example: An item's base price might be $15.00 for the majority of sites, but set to only $12.00 for a specific site, sites or site group(s). Same menu item, different prices at different sites.
Based on the search and filter criteria used, the menu item pricing spreadsheet displays the name, external code and base price for the menu item(s) found in the search results. Sites or site groups can then be selected to apply pricing adjustments. Administrators can revise the price of an item on one of more sites or site groups, overriding the base price for the item for those sites selected.
Base Price shown
Please note that this form displays the base price for the menu item. It does not display each site's individual price.
To check sites' prices for an item, go to the menu item (Products > Menu items) and click the $ (dollar sign).
Configuration
Robust search and filtering capabilities are built into the menu item pricing function. This allows admins to narrow the selection of menu items to those that are needed. Search and filters can be used in any combination to create the search criteria.
Search
Enter several characters from the menu item name or description in the text field to search for items using those characters. Click Search.
The search results will populate the grid and return everything in the menu item database with those characters in the name or description.
Example: Enter "Burg" to perform an unfiltered search for those characters in the name or description.
Note: Active and inactive menu items are shown in search results.
Filters
Several filter options are provided for ease of use:
Menu item categories
Item types
Sales categories
Menus
To refine and narrow the search, make selections from the available filters.
Example: Select the sales categories filter and select Breakfast.
Note that the sales categories header shows (1) to indicate that one item has been selected from within this filter list.
The last filter, menus, does not affect the site pricing spreadsheet. A selection from this filter on the By site tab has no effect on the data in the spreadsheet.
Admins can continue to refine their search as needed from the filters and lists. Note that each filter type indicates the number of items selected from the filter list.
Filters are restrictive: items can be selected from one or more filters; after the first filter is applied, subsequent filters further refine (restrict) the selection.
In this example, sales category Breakfast returns 32 results. The results are filtered further by selecting menu item category Griddle, which restricts the results further to 5 results.
To clear all selections from any filter, use clear all.
Change pricing
Search and/or filter menu items as needed; search results will display in the right panel
Name, external code and current price will be shown
Click in the price field to enter a new price
Optional: Admins can use Excel functions on the worksheet space to test out different pricing scenarios:
To determine what a 20% increase would be, for example, use the worksheet to multiply the current price by 20%
To apply the 20% increase to other items, drag the corner
To determine what a $2 increase would look like when applied to the items in your search results, add $2 to the current price (=D2+2):
After pricing has been determined on the worksheet area, copy and paste the final prices in the Price column
In this example, the price of the Belgian waffle has been increased by 20%
