Menu Item Pricing - Schedule Price Change

Summary

Prices changes on menu items can be scheduled ahead of time and will take effect on the specified dates. This is useful for special promotions, holidays, etc. 

  • Configure the new prices, effective dates and expiration dates in ECM. Price changes can be scheduled from either the Menu Item Pricing grid or from the menu item.

  • For greater granularity, scheduled price changes can apply to only specific sites and/or site groups.

  • Upcoming price changes can be viewed on the Order Entry app. (If there are multiple price changes scheduled, the one closest to the current date will be shown on the app.) 

Configuration 

Account feature toggle required

Your account must have the following feature toggle enabled to use this feature. Please contact your NorthStar representative to have this setting enabled for your account.

4.8 Schedule menu item price changes 

Menu item pricing

Path: Products > Menu Item Pricing

  • Select Schedule price change tab 

  • From Schedule price change tab, select menu item category (left column) then click Add price change.

  • On Add Price Change pop-up, select menu item(s), enter the price change and the effective and expiration dates, then save. 

  •  

    • View the scheduled price change by expanding the menu item to view details. (Click down arrow.) 

    • Effective date, expiration date and price change can be edited by clicking in the field.

    • Click Delete to delete a price change. 

Schedule price change by site or site group 

  • To apply price change to specific sites or site groups, click in the Select sites or Select groups fields and select from the list

Path: Products > Menu Items > edit menu item

  • A price change can be made by site(s), site group(s) or globally. The UI will differ slightly depending on site selection. (Images show global change with no sites/groups selected.)  

  • Select menu item. Click Schedule price change to open window Edit - Price Change 

  • Click Add Price Change, enter price change, effective date and expiration date; click Save changes

  • Effective date, expiration date and price change can be edited by clicking in the field.

  • Click Delete to delete a price change. 

  •  

    • Note: If multiple sites are selected, the site names are shown on the price change window

  • Validation rules

    • Expiration date must be greater than or equal to effective date

    • Expiration time must be greater than effective time

    • If a menu item has multiple price changes for different dates, the effective date and expiration dates cannot overlap

Operation 

View scheduled price changes in the Order Entry app 

Scheduled price changes can be viewed from the iOS app. 

  • Go to Cashier Menu and tap Price Change 

  • The Price Change pop-up will list menu items scheduled for a price change with current price, new price, start date and end date 

    • If there are multiple price changes scheduled, the one closest to the current date will be shown on the app.
