Serving Option Categories

Summary

Serving options are modifications made to a menu item or component to determine how the item is served., e.g. size, temperature, method of preparation, etc.

Serving option examples:

Actions that can be taken with serving option categories:

  • Add/edit serving option categories
  • Set a minimum required and maximum allowed to order
  • Specify the display order shown on the ordering screen
  • Media: Associate an image with the category
  • Localization: Configure the category name in another language. 


To access Serving Option Categories, go to Categories > Serving Option Categories

Serving Option Categories grid

  • The Serving Options Categories grid shows each serving option category
  • Columns with the filter icon can be filtered to create a subset of records.  
  • Most fields on the grid can be edited directly in the grid by clicking in the text field.

Search

Search by name by entering one or more letters of the category name; click Search
Edit (pencil) iconClick to open the Edit Serving Option Category and modify the details of the category

Serving option category description

TagCan be used for third-party application integrations. Enter a code to use for integration or leave blank. 
Minimum requiredMinimum number of serving options that must be selected in this category
Maximum allowedMaximum number of serving options in this category that may be added to a menu item
Apply options to like components

When a serving option is selected for a component, the next time that component is added, the same serving option will be applied. If this setting is not selected, the app will prompt to choose a serving option. 

Ex. Toast is a component. The serving options for toast are Add butter or No butter. The guest orders toast with butter. If they order toast again on the order, it will default to Add butter as the serving option..

Display Order

Use the up and down arrows to set the serving options categories in the order to be shown on the application.
