Component Categories

Summary

Menu items can be composed of multiple components. Components are simply options that can be selected for a menu item. A pizza, for example, might include a choice of toppings: pepperoni, olives, fresh tomatoes, garlic, etc. Each topping is a component of the pizza menu item. 

Components are grouped into component categories, such as crusts, sauces, proteins, cheeses, salad dressings, salad items, etc. For example, a pizza's component categories and components might include:

Actions that can be taken with component categories:

  • Add/edit component categories
  • Specify the display order shown on the ordering screen
  • Specify the display order in the kitchen
  • Media: Associate an image with the category
  • Localization: Configure the category name in another language. 


To access Component Categories, go to Categories > Component Categories

Component Categories grid

  • The Component Categories grid shows each component category
  • Columns with the filter icon can be filtered to create a subset of records.  
  • The Name, Description and Number of Placement fields can be edited directly in the grid by clicking in the text field.

Search

Search by name by entering one or more letters of the category name; click Search
Edit (pencil) iconClick to open the Edit Component Category and modify the details of the category.

Display Order

Use the up and down arrows to set the component categories in the order to be shown on the application.
