Logic Controls LS8000 - Setup and Configuration

Before starting this set up please ensure the windows feature SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support is enabled on the OE server. This is found in Turn Windows Features On or Off.

About the LS8000 Kitchen Display Controller

The LS8000 is an advanced compact kitchen display system controller with Android operating system, designed and manufactured for reliable uninterrupted operations in harsh kitchen environments.

Make sure to connect to the network hub or switch so it attains an available IP address

 

Copy installation files onto flash drive 

Copy these two LS8000 Logic Controls software files onto a flash drive:

Note: These files may change with software upgrades.

Attach flash drive to LS8000 controller device

  • Attach your flash drive that contains the installation software to a USB port on the LS8000 controller

Boot up LS8000 controller device

  • Boot up machine
  • Initial boot screen


  • Touch Screen: Swipe up to access the Android OS options at the bottom and press the middle home screen icon
  • VGA Monitor: Use the mouse to navigate to access Android OS and press the middle Home Screen icon. On the keyboard, press ESC to get to the home screen.

  • Android OS button options:
    Return Button - Return to previous 
    Home Button - Home Screen Button
    ActiveApps - Shows all active apps running (hold on app, then swipe up to close apps)



  • Home Screen
    • On the home screen, press the circle icon with the six blocks (1st image) to access the desktop (2nd image). 

           

Uninstall any pre-installed KDS software

  • On desktop click Settings
  • Go to Apps; there should be one or two pre-installed apps. 
    • KDS Go Ticket
    • KDS Router
  • Click on an app
  • Click and confirm the uninstall
  • Do this for both apps

Install both files from flash drive

  • Verify your flashdrive is connected to one of the USB slots
  • On Desktop, click Explorer
  • Click USB Storage
  • Double-click or tap: 
    • KDS-2.0-Beta.apk
    • KDS-Router-2.0-Beta.apk
  • Install both apps ionto the LS8000 controller 
  • Press the Home Button and navigate to the desktop 
  • Both KDS Router and KDS Go Ticket apps should be installed on the Desktop

Launch KDS Router software; set up and enable router

The KDS Router is the equivalent of the old KDS Manager, but simplified.

  • Click on the KDS Router app on the desktop
  • This will be the first screen you see, Initially it will display that the router is currently disabled.
  • Click on ellipsis on the top right to enter KDS Router Setup



  • Click Settings (Other options are self-explanatory)



  • Settings will have two options in the setup: 
    • Work as backup
      • OFF - Will make this the main KDS router or master on the network
      • ON - Will make the KDS router a slave on the network. You will need to enter the IP address of the master KDS router on the network

    • Enable the router
      • This needs to turned on or no orders will go to the KDS Go Ticket software


  • After router has been enabled; there are two more sections to set up: Data source remote folder and Stations relationship


Configure data source remote folder and stations relationship

Data source remote folder 
This needs to be the shared folder where the XML files will be read for the KDS software. It also needs to have full security permissions to allow Read/Write inside the folder.

  • Enter the IP address of the NorthStar Order Entry server 
  • Navigate to access the shared KitchenOutput folder
  • Make sure the C:\Program Files\Custom Business Solutions\NorthStar Order Entry\KitchenOutput is fully shared via Windows on the Order Entry servers



Windows Folder Security

  • Go to the Security tab and edit the Users Group to allow Full Control of the folder.


NOTE: 

The Order Entry Server Windows Time  needs to match the time on the LS8000 as well. 


Stations relationship

  • Place the proper Station ID (NSOE External Code #; see ECM Configuration below ) 
  • Place correct function of KDS terminal 
    • Definitions of all the functions are in the Premium User Guide

Launch KDS Go Ticket software

This is the program that displays the kitchen tickets.

  • Navigate to the Desktop and click the KDS Go Ticket app
  • Click the app to start up. 

ECM Configuration

  • Kitchen
    • To configure the LS8000 controller in ECM, go to the site page and select the Kitchen tab
    • Select Logic Control for the Kitchen management engine 

  • Areas
    • Select the Areas tab
    • Select the area that will be configured to use the LS8000

    • Select the location that will use the LS8000 

    • Configure the output type and enter the external code (the external code is used in configuring the Stations relationship)
