Edit a Menu Item Category

Summary

To edit a menu item category, click the edit (pencil) icon. 

The settings for editing a menu item category are organized into four tabs:

  • General 

  • Menu Item Display Order

  • Media

  • Localization 

General 

The General tab shows the same settings described on Add a Menu Item Category.
An optional section for setting the adjustment reasons allowed for the menu item category can be shown. (Requires enabling an account feature toggle.)

Contact your NorthStar representative to enable this feature for your account.

  • Select the adjustment reasons allowed to be applied to the menu item category. Select the checkbox at the top of the column to select all adjustment reasons. 

Menu Item Display Order 

The menu items within a menu item category can be arranged in the order they are to be displayed on the POS device when the menu item category is selected. Left click and drag the selected menu item to place it in the order desired. 

  • Can be shown alphabetically on the POS device by clicking Sort alphabetically (A-Z).

  • Option to display inactive menu items within the Menu Item Category by clicking Show inactive menu items.

Media

Media (photos, images) can be added to menu item categories to be displayed on the application.

Images can be shown in three types/sizes in the application; one image can be used for all three image types.

  • Select the image type: default, splash, thumbnail. 

  • To add or change an image, click Change Image to display the images in the image library.

  • Options:

    • Select an image from the image library displayed (See Media) and click Associate Selection.

    • Search for an image by file name, keyword or description

    • Click Add Media to add an image. 

      • Enter a description and keywords, then click Select files ... and select a file from your device. 

      • Click Associate Selection.

Localization

On the Localizations page, the site can add translations and configure specific text to be displayed in another language in guest-facing mode. (Languages must be added first. See Languages.)
