Uninstall Order Entry Program Files from Server

Summary

There are two ways to uninstall Order Entry program files from a server:

  • Method 1: Uninstall the OE program files and retain the current database and site ID.

  • Method 2: Uninstall the OE program files, and delete the site database and site ID.  New program files can be installed and new database and site ID can be added.

Method 1 - Uninstall program files

Uninstall program files

  • Go to Control Panel in Windows and search for these three NorthStar programs:

    • NorthStar Listener

    • NorthStar Order Entry

    • NorthStar Order Entry Setup Files

  • Right-click and uninstall each of the three NorthStar programs separately

  • Finished

Note: This uninstalls only the Order Entry program files; it retains the database. A different version of the NorthStar Order Entry program can be installed using the existing database. The current site ID will be auto-filled during install.

Method 2 - Delete program files, database, site ID

Uninstall program files

  • Go to Control Panel in Windows and search for these three NorthStar programs:

    • NorthStar Listener

    • NorthStar Order Entry

    • NorthStar Order Entry Setup Files

  • Right-click and uninstall each of the three NorthStar programs separately

Delete or modify database

  • Navigate to C:\Program Files\ to access the database folder

    • Rename database folder Custom Business Solutions to Custom Business Solutions MMDDYY

    • You may delete this folder to delete the database or, if this database is needed, it is still accessible by renaming the folder.

Delete token from registry

The CloudAuthenticationToken (also referred to as the Listener Token) allows the site to receive publishes and makes the site visible in World View (below). In the uninstall process, the existing token must be deleted in order to receive a new token exclusive to the new site ID installed to this server.

  • To delete the token, right-click the Windows icon on bottom left of the Windows Taskbar; click Run

  • In the Run window, type REGEDIT; click OK.

  • At the prompt "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" immediately click Yes. This will open up Registry Editor

  • In the Registry Editor, navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Custom Business Solutions\NorthStar Order Entry

    • Right-click CloudAuthenticationToken; delete the token

  • Finished

A new version of NorthStar Order Entry and a new site ID can now be installed on the server.
