Configuration

Add scale to peripherals 

• In Enterprise Content Management (ECM), go to Sites > Sites and Groups and select the site to edit.
• Click the edit icon (pencil) for the site to which you will add a scale.

•  Click Peripherals; click the Scales tab; click Add Scale 

• Enter the name of the scale, unit of measure and the com port.

• Click Save Changes on the  Scales tab, then Save on the Peripherals tab 

Add scale to device 

The scale must be added to the device that it will interface with. 

• On the selected site, click Devices, the click the edit icon (pencil) for the device to which the scale will be added 

• Click the Device Peripherals tab, then click the drop-down for Available Scales. Select the scale that will be used with this device. 

• Click Save on the Device Peripherals tab, then click Save Changes on the Sites page. 

Create a menu item sold by weight 

• Click Menu Items under the Products tab.

• Click Add Menu Item

• For menu item type, select Sales from the drop-down menu.

• Enter the information for the menu item. Select Sold by Weight? and enter a tare weight (the weight of the container) before saving.

Operation

• Place the item on the scale, then tap the menu item name of the weighted item from the Ordering Menu. The tare weight of an item is the weight of the container holding the item. It is usually not included in the selling price. All weighted items can have their weight configured in Enterprise Content Management.

Error conditions

• No scale for device 
  If the user orders the menu item and the device has not been configured in ECM, the system will prompt the user: "Device does not have a scale." (Windows message, top; iOS message, bottom) 
  • See Add Scale for Device to configure; deploy changes then click Retry to proceed. 

• No item on scale
  If the user orders the menu item and nothing has been placed on the scale, the system will prompt the user: "Please place something on the scale."
  Place an item on the scale and click Retry to proceed or click Cancel to discard any actions
