Manual Open/Close
Summary
A site can be configured to open and close either automatically at a set time or manually closed and opened by a user with permission to do so.
To allow a site to use manual open/close, the site and the user have to be configured.
Configuration
Enable site
To enable manual open/close for a site:
- In ECM, go to Sites > select site > Site Info tab.
- Select: Require a user to manually open and close the site
- Save
Enable job
- Select a job.
- In the Permissions tab, select: Allow user to close the restaurant (guest facing or entire house)
- Save
Enable User
- Select the user who will be allowed to manually open/close the site.
- On the Jobs and Rates tab, enable the job that allows the user to close the restaurant.
- Save
- Deploy site
Operation
Close site
- Log in on the POS device using a user with permission to close the site.
- On the Location Manager, tap the user name to display the dropdown list.
- The dropdown list may or may not display Time Clock depending on whether time clock is enabled or disabled.

- Tap Close Site
The site will perform the end-of-day functions:
- Close all open checks, except those with pickup times
- Archive all checks into a
DailySessions
record for the current business date (this is stored in theNorthStar.OrderEntry
database) - Archive all paidouts into a
DailyPaidOut
record for the current business date (this is stored in theNorthStar.OrderEntry
database) - Advance the business date
- Miscellaneous housekeeping activities (purge expired locks, purge log files, etc.)
Upon completion of the end-of-day functions, the site will close.
Open site
- To open the site, log in using a user with permission to close the site.
- On the Location Manager, tap the user name to display the dropdown list.
- The dropdown list may or may not display Time Clock depending on whether time clock is enabled or disabled.
- Tap Open Site
- The site will open.
