1. Introduction

This document provides information about the latest updates for NorthStar for your restaurant's point-of-sale system.

2. Special Considerations During ECM Upgrades

NorthStar ECM upgrades occur within our cloud servers in the early morning and are not location based. In order to properly access ECM, please make sure you have a constant internet connection and firewalls to allow access to our ECM website at ecm.cbsnorthstar.com. Please refer to the NorthStar Order Entry System Requirements for information on firewall allowances and access.   




3. New Features

NOTE: These are ECM items only. In some cases, the application portion of the work will be provided in a future application release.

  • Payroll Summary Report - New report to view employees' payroll data. This includes but is not limited to regular wages, paid breaks, regular hours, declared tips, pay rate, and much more.




4. Improvements

NOTE: These are ECM items only. In some cases, the application portion of the work will be provided in a future application release. 

  • Component Sales Report - Improve the PDF and CSV export formats to be more user-friendly and easy to read. 




5. Fixes

  • Promotions - General promotion on Guest-Facing and Kiosk modes honors multiple items selected for the promotion.

  • Components - Rules are not editable and appear gray (disabled) when a specific site is selected. (Can edit at global level, not site level.) 

  • Peripherals - Removed invalid com port message that appeared after saving changes 

  • Screensavers - Can delete records correctly (resolved issue that only allowed first record to be deleted)

  • Menu item barcode - System now allows for site-level changes to the PLU/Barcode number 

  • ECM reports -  Reports can once again be viewed using Internet Explorer and Safari 

  • Promotions - Minimum delay time is now set to 1 second; 0 seconds is not permitted 

  • Edit Component - Buttons to save, cancel and apply have been restored to edit page for a newly created component. 

  • Menu item category - Added warning if media is not selected before clicking Associate Selection or Cancel
