Supported Video Formats

Warning: With the death of Internet Explorer, we can no longer support multiple video formats, going forward we will only support mp4 - encoded h.264.

NorthStar Recipe Viewer supports the following media formats:

File Extension	Description	Requirements
ASF	Microsoft Advanced Systems Format	Windows Media Player configured on viewing device
AVI	Audio Video Interleave	HTML5 browser or Windows Media Player configured on viewing device
FLV	Adobe Flash Video Container	A Flash-capable web browser is required to view .flv content
M4V	iTunes Video Format	HTML5 browser or iOS/Mac device NOTE: DRM protected M4V may not display correctly and are not supported. Video files must be h.264 encoded.
MPG or MPEG	Moving Pictures Expert Group format	HTML5 browser or Windows Media Player configured on viewing device
MP3	MPEG Audio Layer III format	HTML5 browser or Windows Media Player configured on viewing device
MP4	MPEG-4	HTML5 browser NOTE: Video files must be h.264 encoded. Some MP4 videos may need to be re-encoded to play properly on iOS devices.
MOV	Apple QuickTime Movie Format	A compatible QuickTime player (https://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/) must be installed on the viewing device (not supported in IE11)
SWF	Adobe Flash Small Web Format	A Flash-capable web browser is required to view .swf content
WMV	Windows Media Video	Windows Media Player configured on viewing device
