Summary

Check Search allows users to locate open and/or closed checks created within the last 90 days. (Today's date minus 90 days.) 

Depending on the state of the check and the day, checks can be reopened, adjusted, reprinted, refunded or just viewed.

Operation

To use Check Search:

  • Attach to a table
  • Swipe to the Location Menu 
  • Tap Check Search to open the Check Search screen
  • Default date/time setting: The search results display checks that have been opened from Start of Day to Now
  • Location Name/Customer Name: An identifier is shown below the check number based on order type:
    • Dine In - Location 
    • Delivery - Location
    • Takeout - Customer Name


Search criteria 

The search options can be changed to search for a closed check within the last 90 days.

  • Date
    • Tap Check Search. The default search options are from Start of Day to Now.
    • To change the time or date of the search, tap Start of Day. A date/time selector pop-up will open.
      • Change time: With Today selected, select a time range from the list 


      • Change date: Tap Date to launch the calendar and select a new date


    • Tap Done, then Search to refresh the search criteria and display the new search results. Any check that was created within the search criteria parameters will be displayed.
    • Tap Reset to return to clear all search criteria that has been changed abd return to the default setting and results.
  • Approximate Amount
    • Tap the text field under Approx. Amt. to open the numerical keypad.
    • Enter the approximate amount of the check's balance. (Do not include tip in the check's balance.) 
    • Tap Search to refresh the search results. Any check that has a balance within $5 of the approximated balance will be displayed.
  • Location Number
    • Tap the text field under Location Number to open the numerical keypad.
    • Enter the number of the location that the check was created on.
    • Tap Search to refresh the search results. Any check that was created on that location will be displayed.
  • Card
    • Tap the text field under Last 4 Digits on Card to open the numerical keypad.
    • Enter the last four digits of the card that was used to pay the check. 
    • Tap Search to refresh the search results. Any check that was paid for with a matching card will be displayed.
  • Owner
    • Tap the blue plus sign to open a list of possible check owners.
    • Tap an owner's name to select it. Multiple owners can be selected at one time to include in the search.
    • Tap Search to refresh the search results. Any check that was created by any owner meeting the search criteria will be displayed.

Filter by Order Type, Session Type or Status

In addition to searching by specified criteria, the search can be filtered by order type, session type or status to display only specific types of orders, such as closed or delivery orders. This filter can be applied before or after setting other search criteria to help narrow down the search results. 

To filter the check search by order type, session type and/or status:

  • Tap Order Types and select the desired types. 
  • Tap Done; tap Search 

Filter Check Search Results

The criteria in the left panel of the Check Search window are used to perform a search on the server and return matching search results. These search results can be filtered further to narrow the results and locate a check or checks. 

In general, to filter the check search results by guest identifier, check # or location #:

  • Tap in the filter field above the search results and enter the filter criteria.


  • After locating the check or checks, tap the check to expand and view. Options to go to the location, reopen the check or print will vary depending on the state of the check. 


  • Guest identifier 
    • Tap in the Filter by ... field above the search results
    • Enter one or more characters for the Guest Identifier


  • Check #
    • Tap in the Filter by ... field above the search results
    • Use the numerical keyboard to enter the check number 


  • Location #
    • Tap in the Filter by ... field above the search results
    • Use the numerical keyboard to enter the location number

New information expands on the label below the check number as shown below. This label will vary (location number, guest name or blank) depending on the order type and status of the check session. 
  1. Order type: Take-Out - Display the name of the attached customer if there is one. If there’s no attached customer, leave blank.

  2. Order type: Dine in, Delivery, or Drive thru - display the location name.

  3. if the session is parked or it is an advance order, display the customer’s name.

  4. if the session is a pre-order, leave blank.
