Function | Select from the following options: - Preparation
- A preparation station will show only the items that are designated to this station. This is the first step of item flow in a kitchen. Preparation station must have an expeditor station set. Select an expeditor station in the Expeditor field.
- Expeditor
- An expeditor station will receive all orders sent from POS. Expeditor stations will see all items/orders ready to be delivered. Order header will change to blue color when the order is ready to deliver.
- Backup/Prep
- The backup/prep station serves as a backup of the preparation station. New orders will roll over to this station if preparation station is out of service or not connected to the network.

- The backup/expo station serves as a backup of the expeditor station. New orders will roll over to this station if the expeditor station is out of service or not connected to the network.
- Mirror

- Duplicate
- A duplicate station will receive all orders from the station designated in the Parent ID field. Unlike the mirror function, actions done in one station are not reflected to the other, e.g., bump an order on station one and the same order will not be bumbed on station two.
- Workload
- On a workload station, software will balance the orders for two devices, using an algorithm to leverage the orders based on orders displayed on the screen and time remaining to complete the order.

NorthStar ECM Settings
In ECM, configure the device on the site's kitchen page then configure print routing for the menu items to route to the allee KDS.
- Site > Kitchen tab - Select the Kitchen Management Engine
- Areas > Locations > Kitchen - For the Kitchen location, select Output Type and External Code to match the device in allee. The allee device the menu item routes to is determined by the External Code.
In the above example, the kitchen location will route to destination ID 4 in the allee KDS Device setting.
- Products > Menu items
- Route the menu items to a kitchen device. NSOE sends orders to the allee KDS system based on the print routing setting of each menu item.
- To update the iPad with the new deployment, force a data load or finalize a check on the iPad.
- Order an item and verify that it is displayed on the allee screen.
