NorthStar Recipe Viewer supports the following media formats:

| AVI | Audio Video Interleave | HTML5 browser or Windows Media Player configured on viewing device |
| FLV | Adobe Flash Video Container | A Flash-capable web browser is required to view .flv content |
| M4V | iTunes Video Format | HTML5 browser or iOS/Mac device NOTE: DRM protected M4V may not display correctly and are not supported. Video files must be h.264 encoded. |
| MPG or MPEG | Moving Pictures Expert Group format | HTML5 browser or Windows Media Player configured on viewing device |
| MP3 | MPEG Audio Layer III format | HTML5 browser or Windows Media Player configured on viewing device |
| MP4 | MPEG-4 | HTML5 browser NOTE: Video files must be h.264 encoded. Some MP4 videos may need to be re-encoded to play properly on iOS devices. |
| MOV | Apple QuickTime Movie Format | A compatible QuickTime player (https://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/) must be installed on the viewing device (not supported in IE11) |
