Summary
This feature supports the creation and display of multiple layouts within a restaurant (e.g., bar, patio, dining room, banquet room, etc.). This is another option for a restaurant to manage their server assignments and table management. It is particularly useful for larger restaurants where a single layout displaying all locations might become too crowded to be useful.
With this feature, the user can:
- Add one or more layouts
- Give each layout a unique name
- Display a list of available layouts
- Move tables to and from layouts
- Assign servers to locations on the current layout displayed
- Return to last layout used after completing a transaction
- View the name of the current layout
Configuration
Just as with a single location layout, the areas and locations are configured in ECM.
Operation
Add a layout
When there is only one layout for a site (screenshot immediately below), the multiple layouts icon does not appear in the menu bar.
To add a new layout:
- Tap Manage > location map
- On the Edit Location page, tap the + icon
- Enter the layout name in the pop-up displayed; tap OK to save
- The new layout will be created. Note that the menu bar now includes the multiple layouts icon and the delete icon.
- To add locations to the new layout, tap Add Location; a list of available locations will display
- Note: Locations are added in ECM; after publishing, the new locations are available to be added to any layout
- Click each location in the list that is to be added to the new layout (In this example, these are training locations, so are disabled until a trainee has been assigned.)
- Click Publish
View and go to layouts
- To view the layouts available, tap the layouts icon.
- To go to a layout, tap the layout name
Remove a layout
Removing a layout is a permanent action. A deleted layout cannot be recovered.
- Go to the layout to be deleted
- Tap Manage > Location Map (bottom right)
- Tap the delete icon (trash can) in the menu bar
- On the confirmation pop-up, tap OK
- The layout and the locations on the layout will be removed
- Note: The locations can be added to another layout by going to a different layout and tapping Add Location
Submit order
As a normal behavior for submitting orders, a user is directed to the location map. For a site with multiple locations, the application will direct user to the location map and display the page where the table, the user is attached to, is located.
Detach
When a user detach the device from a table, it should direct the user to the location map and display the page where the table the user is previously attached to is located.
