  1. Unzip the NorthStarSecureBrowserInstaller-12.06.zip file from \\hq-file1\shared\misc\Install\Northstar\Secure Browser\ into the C:\CBS folder or any folder where you want to unzip the installer to.
  2. Double Click NorthStarSecureBrowser-12.06.exe. (This will launch the Secure Browser Installer Program)
  3. The installer will pop up and will give you an option to install either the VB6 version or the .Net version.

Note

IF YOU HAVE .NET FRAMEWORK V2.0 AND UP, IT WILL ONLY GIVE YOU THE OPTION TO INSTALL THE .NET VERSION OF SECURE BROWSER.

 

  1. Choose which version of Secure Browser to install and click Install.

Note

THE INSTALLER WILL PUT THE FILES IN THE C:\PROGRAM FILES\NORTHSTAR\SECURE BROWSER\ FOLDER.

  1. When the installer is done installing, click Close to close out of the program.
  2. Go to c:\program files\northstar\secure browser\ and Double Click SecureBrowser.exe (This will launch the Secure Browser program)
  3. Click Setup (This will launch the Secure Browser Setup)
  4. Enter the Default URL.

Note

THIS URL WILL BE THE DEFAULT WEBSITE WHEN YOU LAUNCH SECURE BROWSER.

  1. Under Configurations, you will choose what you wish to disable while secure browser is up.
  2. Under Passwords you can choose when passwords will pop up. Admin means a password prompt will pop up if you go to the c:\program files\northstar\secure browser\ folder via command prompt and type in securebrowser.exe -config. Browser Close means a password prompt will pop up if you press alt F4 5 times.
  3. Save settings to registry means that you have an option of either saving the settings to registry or if unflagged, it will save it to SecureBrowser.ini.

Note

THE SECUREBROWSER.INI FILE IS ENCRYPTED. IF MODIFIED OR DELETED, SECURE BROWSER WILL DELETE THE URL AND YOU WILL HAVE TO RE-ENTER THE URL VIA SETUP.
