(**IMPORTANT NOTE: Before installation of the Customer Display Unit, the site should already have the Lantronix Serial to IP server installed. Directions on how to install that piece of equipment can be found here-> Installing a Lantronix Serial-to-Ethernet Device)
Installation Steps:
- Unpack and assemble the the unit.
- The unit should look like this once assembled.
- Open the back rubber part of the CDU with a pair of tweezers and adjust the DIP Switches accordingly.
#5 and #7 need to be put in the UP position. All other switches need to be DOWN. - Next make sure to plug the CDU to the Lantronix Serial to IP Server. The port you attach to on the Serial to IP box is important because you will utilize the Virtual Com Ports you've assigned to it via the "Installing a Lantronix Serial-to-Ethernet Device" directions. The screenshots below show you the Lantronix Serial to IP box along with the Epson Customer Display (Again, you will need to configure the Lantronix unit first and assign the proper Virtual Com Ports to the box)
- Now navigate your web browser and put in the IP Address of the Lantronix Serial to IP server. Once there you will need to make sure that the Enable VirtualCOM for Serial/IP is flagged. If this is not flagged it will display random gibberish and characters on the Customer Display Unit. Make sure that the rest of the settings on the COM pages match the screenshot as well.
- Now you will need to add the Customer Display Unit to the site in their ECM Setup.
Login to the site's ECM > Sites > Edit the Site > Peripherals and add the COM Port and Customer Display Unit. Then click on the SAVE CHANGES.
- Next you will have to attach the Customer Display Unit to a specific iPad Device in ECM.
- Once all of this is completed, you can need to run a DEPLOY to the site and the Customer Display Unit you've attached to the iPad Device will be sending orders to it.
COMPLETED!
