Quick Startup Checklist

  • Verify configurations for PAX Terminals from the NorthStar Credit Card Team
  • ECM Setup
    1. Verify all Peripheral Setup for PAX Terminals
    2. Verify iPad Devices are set for PAX Terminals
  • Verify site's payment processors allow PAX transactions (Implementation Team)

Basic Info

  • The payment terminals function as external credit card/gift card processing devices. PAX devices can be customer facing and do not read Manager/Employee security cards. 
  • Each PAX terminal holds encrypted credit card/gift card transaction data exclusively 
    • Credit card/gift card transactions run on a PAX terminal are held in that specific PAX terminal
    • The PAX terminals batch out these stored CC/GC transactions at a specified time 
      • This is set up in terminal's physical setting options.
  • Note: These are not the same as the Verifone VX805s
  • Processors: Currently we have four main processors that are live with PAX terminals:
    1. FDMS - MacGrill, PF Chang's
    2. TSYS - Kona Grill
    3. Heartland - Torchy's Tacos
    4. Shift4 - Brix Holdings (Smoothie Factory, Orange Leaf, etc.

Check ECM > Site > Payment tabs to verify processors for a specific site

Remote downloads

After a remote download of parameters from the following processors, the PAX device password will change to the following:

All other processors will retain their current password, which is the date.
