Servers can be assigned to or unassigned from one or more locations on the location map. The user performing the server assignments must be using a job that has permission for these actions. A user can:
- Assign a server to one or more locations.
- Set an assigned server as the owner of the session.
- Remove one or more servers from multiple locations.
Configuration
A user must have job permission to assign/unassign servers in location manager.
- Users > Jobs > Permissions
Operation
- From Location Manager, tap Manage, then tap Server Assignments
- Edit Server Assignments window will display
After selecting Manage and Server Assignment from the Location Manager the user will be presented with the edit server assignments screen. On this screen a user may:
- Assign a server to multiple locations.
- Set an assigned server as the owner of the session.
- Remove one or more servers from multiple locations.
An assigned server may be attached to a location but the session's reporting information and tips are recorded under the session's owner.
After selecting the Manage button from the location manager the user may select multiple tables (Selected tables will be highlighted. See below.) and then assign a server to that location.
Select the Assign Servers button in the bottom right and pick one server from the list. To set the assigned server as the owner of a locations session make sure the ownership switch is turned on.

- Tap Cancel to discard any changes and close the edit view
- Tap Publish to post any changes and close the edit view
- Tap one or more locations to select (Note the yellow glow on locations 100, 103 and 104 in the screenshot)
- Tap Deselect All to deselect any locations selected
- Tap Assign Server to assign server to location(s) selected
Assign server(s) to location(s)
- Tap Manage, then tap Server Assignments
- If the site has multiple floorplan layouts, the user can switch to the desired layout by tapping the layout icon at top and selecting from the list
- Tap locations that a server will be assigned to; the selected locations will display a yellow glow, a visual cue that they are selected
- Tap Assign Server; the Select Server window will pop up with a list of users (they do not have to be logged in)
- Tap the name of the server that you wish to assign the locations to.
- If the green toggle is On, the assigned server will also become the session owner for the transaction.
- The session's reporting information (sale, payment, etc.) is recorded under the session owner even if another server is attached to the location or a cashier cashes out the check.
- If the green toggle is On, the assigned server will also become the session owner for the transaction.
- Tap Cancel to cancel the selection and close the window or tap Done to apply the selection and close the window
- After tapping Done, the location map shows the server assigned to the selected locations
- Tap Publish to save the server assignments. A confirmation window will display.
- Tap No to discard the assignments made
- Tap Yes to accept the assignments made, exit edit mode and return to the location map.
- After tapping Yes and returning to the location manager, the names of the assigned servers can be seen by tapping Server at the bottom
- If a server tries to access a location that is assigned to another server, a mask will appear on the screen with the message Access Denied. (Anything behind the mask cannot be tapped.)
- The user can choose to either log out or detach from the location to continue.
Remove/change a server assignment
- Tap the Manage > Server Assignments
- Tap the location
- Tap Assign Server; the Select Server pop-up will display
- To remove the server, tap the name of the server currently assigned to the location; this will clear the selection
- To change to another server, tap a different server name to select
- Tap Done then Publish
