When editing a menu item you may edit the following under the General Tab:
Summary
Menu items can be customized to suit many types of items including entrees, drinks and dinnerware.

| Name | How the item appears in Guest UI and Staff UI |
| Description | Summary of the item displayed in Guest UI |
| Number of Placements | Determines how many times the item can be split (for example, pizza: left, right) |
| Price | How much the item costs |
| External Code | Code of the item |
| Background Color | Click to bring up a color palette and choose a color for this menu item button |
| Redeem for quantity (ticket only) | Server gives ticket in exchange |
| Tare weight | Weight of the container of the item |
| Type | The type of item |
| Sales Category | The sales category the item is displayed in |
| Prep Type | The style of preparation |
| Prep Description | How the food is prepared |
| Prep Category | Category of preparation |
| Prep Time (sec) | How many seconds it will take to prepare |
| Convenience Center Category | Where it belongs in the Convenience Center (usually for napkins, dinnerware, condiments) |
| PLU/Barcode Number | Price look-up code or barcode number |
| Menu Item Categories | The category the item is displayed in for Guest UI and Staff UI (must have an item category created |

| Build Your Own | Allow the guest to build the item to their preference |
| Allow Save to Favorite | Allow the guest to save the item to their favorite |

| Available for Take Away | Item can be placed on a future/advanced order |
| Available for Web Ordering | Item can be ordered through the web |
| Refillable | Refillable (drinks, appetizers) |
| Automatically walk guest through ordering process? | Displays additional assistance when ordered |
| Is Featured? | Displays on the front page of guest facing |
| Zero-priced items print on the check? | $0.00 items (usually water, dinnerware) |
| Sold by weight? | Item must be weighed on a scale when sold |
| Hide Menu Item Customization on Add | Hinders item customization window when Add is used |
| Require Staff to Order | A staff member must log in to order the item |
| Require Seat Number | User is asked for seat number when ordered |
Operation
Items function per configuration. Menu items display in their categories.
