Scales

Summary

Scales can be added, edited or disabled on the Scales tab.

Fields:

  • Name - The name given to the scale (required) 

  • Unit of measure - unit of measure (optional) 

    • Note: If UOM is not entered, the weight of the item will not print on the receipt 

  • Com Port - Com Port assigned to the device (use control to select) 

  • Disabled - Select to disable a device; clear to enable 

Add Scale

  • Click Add Scale

  • Enter a name in text field (required)

  • Using the control, select the number of the Com Port (must be between 0 and 65535)

Edit a scale

  • Click in any field to open

  • Edit the field, either by entering information or selecting from the control 

After adding or editing 

Changes can be saved or canceled by using the buttons at the top of the tab. (These are specific to the Scales page.) 

  • Save Changes - Click to save changes made on the Scales page

  • Cancel ChangesClick to cancel changes made on the Scales page



Scales Certification 

The National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) requires that the scale device must be certified as follows: 

NTEP Certificate of Conformance
NTEP certification is issued by NCWM upon successful completion of the evaluation process. This NTEP Certificate of Conformance indicates that the device manufacturer has demonstrated the ability to meet applicable requirements for commercial weighing and measuring equipment in the United States as specified in Handbook 44: Specifications and Tolerances and Other Technical Requirements. NTEP certification is required in most states in the United States.

The  NSOE software does not require certification. The software simply takes the number the scale provides to the software.
