Add/Edit a Job
On the Jobs grid, click Add Job
Add Job
- Complete the information on the Add Job window:
- Name and description of job
- Select labor category (FOH, BOH, Management, etc.)
- Declare Tips - Select a tip declaration rule for the system to enforce for the job. (Account feature toggle required for Declare Tips option to be available.)
- None = No tip declaration rules enforced
- Equal to or greater than total tips = For this job, employee must declare a tip amount that meets or exceeds the amount of their credit card tips
- Equal to or greater than total tips less tip share = For this job, Employee must declare a tip amount that meets or exceeds the amount of their credit card tips after subtracting the tip share owed
- External Code 1- Automatically increments to the next available number; used to map job for third-party integrations
- External Code 2 - Allows alphanumeric/characters entry; used to map job for third-party integrations
- Tip Share % - Enter the percentage of this job's tips that are to be shared (can be 0)
- Save to save changes, Cancel to discard changes and return to previous page
On the Jobs grid:
- Save Changes - Save changes made on the grid
- Cancel Changes - Discard changes made on the grid
Edit job
Click the edit (pencil) icon to edit job settings.
Additional job configuration settings are available via a series of tabs.
Permissions
- Select the permissions allowed for this job.
- Permissions can also be added to a job by copying from another job
Workflow
- Workflow settings control the flow of the user experience. Select those that apply to this job.
Most settings are self-explanatory. Exceptions:
- Allow access to Quantity keypad - Allows job to use the vertical quantity keypad on the app (toggles between Seat and Quantity)
- Allow enhanced multi-select functionality - This allows the job to tap items on the order to select and then make changes to the items selected. (Replaces Enable multi-select menu option. Different options will appear in a contextual menu based on items selected and options available.) Also, the staff member can perform a long press on a menu item to view the item components.
- Do not allow auto logout - When staff member with this job is attached to a table, they won't be automatically logged out after 30 seconds. Applies to table service locations only. Counter service locations and drive-thru locations automatically log out after 2 minutes. Note: This feature is for the Windows version of NorthStar at this time.
Area Access
- Select the areas this job is allowed to access at each site.
- Note: If no area access is selected, user may clock in only.
Adjustment Reasons
- Select the adjustment reasons this job is allowed to use.
Alternate payments
- Select the alternate payment types this job is allowed to accept.
Grace Periods
Account feature toggle required for Grace Periods option to be available. (Enforce Labor Schedule)
- This feature allows sites to:
- Enforce time schedules from a scheduling tool (e.g., HotSchedules).
- Define allowable grace periods for clocking in or out, late or early. (Enforce schedule required to enforce grace periods.)
- Allow override (optional) - A user cannot clock in/out outside of these parameter unless Allow override is selected for the job. A management employee can swipe their card to allow the user to clock in/out outside of these parameters.
