Summary
Multiple layouts can be used within a restaurant (e.g., bar layout, patio layout, dining room layout, banquet room layout, etc.). This is another option for a restaurant to manage their server assignments and table management. It is Multiple layouts are particularly useful for larger restaurants where a single layout displaying all locations on the device might become too crowded to be useful.
With this feature, the user can:
- Add one or more layouts
- Give each layout a unique name
- Display a list of available layouts
- Move tables to and from layouts
- Assign servers to locations on the current layout displayed
- Return to last layout used after completing a transaction
- View the name of the current layout

Just as with a single location layout, the areas and locations are configured in ECM.

- The areas and locations to be used on a layout are first configured in ECM and published.
- Locations are added to location map layouts on the iPad device. See Location Map - Locations and Layouts and go to Location Management.
Operation
One layout
When there is only one layout for a site (screenshot immediately below), the multiple layouts icon location map does not appear in the menu bar.
To add a new layout:
- Tap Manage > location map
- On the Edit Location page, tap the + icon
- Enter the layout name in the pop-up displayed; tap OK to save
- The new layout will be created. Note that the menu bar now includes the multiple layouts icon and the delete icon.
- To add locations to the new layout, tap Add Location; a list of available locations will display
- Note: Locations are added in ECM; after publishing, the new locations are available to be added to any layout
- Click each location in the list that is to be added to the new layout (In this example, these are training locations, so are disabled until a trainee has been assigned.)
- Click Publish
After adding a new layout:
- If the user is attached to a location in a different layout, their view will return to that layout after adding a new layout.
- Example:
- User is attached to location in Dining Room layout.
- User creates a new layout named Bar; clicks Publish
- User view returns to Dining Room layout
- Example:
- If the user is not attached to any location, their view will remain on the newly created layout.
- Example:
- User is not attached to any location
- User creates a new layout named Bar; clicks Publish
- User view remains on Bar layout

View and go to layouts
- To view the layouts available, tap the layouts icon.
- To go to a layout, tap the layout name
Remove a layout
Removing a layout is a permanent action. A deleted layout cannot be recovered.
- Go to the layout to be deleted
- Tap Manage > Location Map (bottom right)
- Tap the delete icon (trash can) in the menu bar
- On the confirmation pop-up, tap OK
- The layout and the locations on the layout will be removed
- Note: The locations can be added to another layout by going to a different layout and tapping Add Location
After deleting a layout:
- If the user is attached to a location in a different layout, their view will return to that previous layout.
- Example:
- User is attached to location in Dining Room layout.
- User deletes a layout named Bar; clicks Publish
- User view returns to Dining Room layout
- Example:
- If the user is not attached to any location, their view will display the first layout in the list.
- Example:
- User is not attached to any location
- User deletes a layout named Bar; clicks Publish
- User view shows the first layout in the list of layouts
- Example:
Submit order
When there is only one layout, when a user taps Submit Order, they are detached from the location and returned to the layout screen.
When there are multiple layouts, when a user taps Submit Order, they are detached from the location and returned to the last layout selected (the one on which they submitted the order).
Log in
When staff logs out, then logs in again:
- If attached to a location, the user will return to the layout where the location is located
- If not attached to a location, the user will return to the last layout selected

Multiple layouts
If multiple layouts are available, the layouts icon will be shown in the top bar.
- Tap the layouts icon to display a list of layouts available
- Tap the layout name to display that layout
